Areas of Specialization

This is the age of specialization in our industry and notwithstanding, I am in sole practice and I classify myself as a semi-general practitioner. Most firms departmentalize whereby the attorney can offer expertise in his one area of specialization only. However the general practitioner is always best equipped to offer a wider range of advice in areas that may affect a client’s decision. For instance, I have found it most helpful to clients to have a vast background and full working knowledge of real estate law when I prepare an estate plan or handle a divorce case. In a corporate law or family law matter, it is best to have a wide spectrum background appurtenant to the issues and a working knowledge of litigation to be able to fully apprise the client of his or her rights.
